Social & Emotional Intelligence Course Discussion: One benefit about increasing self-awareness is that it helps you recognize emotional cues. Share some cues that you know or have learned about yourself. How does having awareness about these cues support you in being an effective leader? For example, I learned a long time ago that I become emotionally activated with people who are consistently late to meetings. Knowing this allows me to intentionally self-regulate and activate curiosity.

I definitely get emotionally activated if I feel disrespected, if my opinions are not valued, even when I have more experience than other people in the meeting. I don't remember this ever happening when I was younger. Just lately I've been wondering if this may have something to do with age discrimination as I find myself almost saying things like "in my day..." I will need to pay more attention to this and learn how to let it go.
