Course Description
Most of us were never taught what trauma actually is, how common it is, or how it follows people into the workplace — yet it shapes how teams communicate, how conflict unfolds, and whether people feel safe enough to contribute fully. Foundations of Trauma-Informed Leadership is a self-paced course that gives leaders and their teams a shared language for understanding trauma and its everyday impact at work, along with a first set of principles for responding with awareness rather than reaction. It includes the same content as our live virtual session, but is designed to be completed on your own schedule. You'll leave able to recognize how stress and trauma show up in behavior and performance — and clear that a trauma-informed approach is not about diagnosing or "fixing" people. It's about creating the conditions of safety, trust, and dignity in which people can thrive. Five modules, roughly three and a half hours total. Each module includes a short video with Dr. Robyn Short, a written lesson, a five-question quiz, and two reflection questions reviewed by the course engagement manager. No prior background required. Who it's for Leaders, managers, HR professionals, and teams seeking a shared foundation. An ideal all-staff starting point and preparation for Trauma-Informed Leadership: Core Practices. Certificate criteria Pass all five module quizzes with 80% or higher, and submit all ten reflection questions. Worksheets are for your own use and are not submitted. Reflection submission unlocks the next module immediately; facilitator feedback arrives separately and is required before the certificate is issued.
